I may not make it through February. I’ve already dealt with enough stress to last a lifetime and the hits just keep on coming.

The doctors took out Jackson’s breathing tube on Wednesday. Thursday was fine. However, Jackson’s lungs got a little worse on Friday and he now has some fluid around his heart. The docs aren’t too concerned with the fluid and continue to give diarrhetics to try to get the fluid off. He will get another (his third this hospital stay) echo soon to see if the fluid is gone. I’m happy to report that Jackson’s lungs looked better on this morning’s X-ray. He gets daily chest X-rays and blood work at 4:00 am (so great when we spend the night!).

Jackson also needs to perk up. He’s basically slept 24/7 for a week and a half.

In the meantime, Luca has been lethargic and hasn’t wanted to eat the past two days. I took him to the doctor today for pink eye and, surprise! He has the flu! Again! He had Strain A in January (diagnosed the day before Jackson went into the hospital) and now he has Strain B. The doctor said he should be fine in a few days. However, Josh, my dad and I have all been exposed to Luca. We are all getting preventative Tamiflu prescriptions but we are not sure when we can go to the hospital again because we cannot expose Jackson.

On a positive note, Luca made a heartwarming note for Jackson last night.

So, if you stop hearing from me, I didn’t make it. The stress was too much. Just kidding. We will keep trucking along and everyone will get better…but it sure would be nice if everyone would get better ASAP.
