I love Jerry Springer

I love Jerry Springer! Thursday night I attended the volunteer awards gala for the Hearing Speech Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati. Jerry Springer was the keynote speaker. The gala honored Betsy and David Mann by giving them the volunteer of the year award.

I don’t know Jerry Springer but I know people that know him and they’ve repeatedly told me he is really, really funny. So I was expecting to laugh and not sob uncontrollably when he gave his speech. Jerry started with a joke and then began with, “God speaks to us through our children.” As soon as he said this I knew that he was getting much more serious than I had anticipated. He followed it with, “you never truly know what love is until you have a child that is not typical.” Cue the tears. He gave a beautiful speech about how special-needs parents love their children and will do anything for them; and how the majority must advocate on behalf of the minority. It was so moving and so touching and I never expected this from Jerry Springer. Jerry has one daughter who is disabled. I could hear his love for her during his speech and even Jerry cried!

I went with three girlfriends, one of whom is my sister-in-law and all of whose lives have been touched by knowing Jackson. We all left huge fans and supporters of Jerry Springer. We also promised to start watching his show. 🙂 and that is why I love Jerry Springer.
Jer-ry, Jer-ry, Jer-ry, Jer-ry!
