Today marks seven full weeks in the PICU at Cincinnati Children’s. Jackson is doing well and we are moving! Assuming a bed opens up tomorrow, we will transfer to the Transitional Care Center or TCC, which is an inpatient unit that provides care for medically complex pulmonary children and their families. Jackson will be going home on a BiPAP machine, hopefully only when he’s asleep, and TCC will set us up with the appropriate BiPAP machine and teach us how to use it.
Jackson has gotten two windows off the BiPAP machine everyday for the past few days. The first window was only 30 minutes but this morning he had a two hour window. He will have another two hour window later today. His lungs have been getting pretty junky during windows so he stays near the suction machine and we try to get as much junk out as we can.
We have gotten Jackson in his wheelchair 2-3 times per day this week. When he’s in his chair, it’s easy to see how weak he has gotten because he has trouble holding his head up. He’s also pretty fussy when we move him. I think he’s alert enough to realize he doesn’t feel good and he now has enough energy to complain.
All in all, Jackson is making good forward progress. He still has a lot of work to do to get stronger and get his lungs working well. Thank you, again, for all of your prayers and support.

I’m always happy when Grace starts getting fussy!
So happy to see this!
I’m so happy to see him up. I think of you all daily and am amazed at your strength. Praying for you. ((HUGS))
